NASA found its unique properties beneficial as filters on the windows of space
vehicles, and developed the modern process for making it. The process consists of depositing very thin
layers of rare metals on the surface of a piece of glass. The glass is then placed in a vacuum chamber
and bombarded by an intense electron beam. It sounds scientific and it really is! The word "dichroic"
means two colors, the transmitted color and the reflected color. For example, a piece of dichroic glass
that reflects gold will be blue if you look through it.
These pendants are by no means cheap,
but considering the technology involved in making them they are definately good value for money for a
truely unique pendant.
